New Delhi: Uber Eats, the food on-demand delivery app, is all set to launch in Coimbatore and Vizag this month. With the addition of these two cities, Uber Eats will be available in 6 cities in the south including Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kochi. Since its introduction in May 2017, Uber Eats has grown its presence in 13 cities across the country. The new app is receiving progressive responses from the customers even from the Southern cities also.
Across Coimbatore and Vizag, the app will be collaborating with nearly 300 restaurants. In Coimbatore, restaurants such as Valarmathi Kongu Naatu Samayal, Velan Kaapi, RHR Restaurants, Junior Kupanna and Vasanta Bhavan will be partnering with the app. In Vizag, Tibbs Frankie, Cream Stone, Drunken Monkey are some of the establishments which would be available in the primary phase.
The head of Uber Eats India, Bhavik Rathod said, "Our steady expansion across the Southern belt furthers our mission to make the best restaurants and cuisines easily accessible anytime, anywhere, to anyone."
"Over the years, consumers in the South have displayed a preference for traditional food with a global twist, while traditional food culture is still strongly felt with the presence of multiple street joints serving Idlis and Rasam and likes of the same, a huge number of eateries and food chains that serve 'glocal' palates has increased in the past couple of years. Owing to this, there is a huge opportunity for Eats to be successful in the Southern cities of India. We are confident that tapping on lesser-known yet upcoming cities like Coimbatore and Vizag will benefit our presence as well as allow southerners to now enjoy their food from the comfort of their own homes and without any hassle," added Rathod.
Uber Eats was started in 2014 as a small delivery pilot in Los Angeles and launched as a separate application in Toronto in December 2015. Since then, it has grown incredibly fast and is now a stand-alone app available in 200+ cities around the globe. In India, Uber Eats was first launched in Mumbai in May 2017. Within 11 months, the service launched in Mumbai, Delhi, Gurgaon, Bangalore, Chennai, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Pune, Kochi, Jaipur, Kolkata and now in Coimbatore and Vizag.
The Uber Eats app is separate to the Uber app that people use to request a ride. The app has been built specifically to make food delivery as seamless as possible, at the tap of a button.
